5-Day Rift Valley Lakes & Maasai Mara Safari

Combine the scenery and wildlife of Kenya’s Rift Valley with the expansive grasslands of the Maasai Mara. Visit Lake Naivasha for a gentle boat experience, explore Lake Nakuru National Park for rhinos and rich birdlife, then spend two nights in the Mara searching for big cats and the plains game that sustain them.

Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi to Lake Naivasha

Drive into the Great Rift Valley and continue to Lake Naivasha. Take a guided boat ride, watching for hippos and waterbirds, with an optional nature walk where locally permitted.

Day 2 Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru

Travel to Lake Nakuru National Park for a game drive through lakeshore, woodland and escarpment habitats. Look for rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffalo, antelope and diverse birdlife.

Day 3 Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara

Drive across the Rift Valley towards the Maasai Mara. Arrive for lunch or an afternoon check-in, followed by your first game drive on the open plains.

Day 4 Full day in the Maasai Mara

Spend the day exploring the reserve with a picnic lunch or separate morning and afternoon drives. Your guide will follow current wildlife activity in search of predators and plains game.

Day 5 Morning safari and return to Nairobi

Take a final early game drive, return for breakfast and check out. Drive back to Nairobi for a hotel or airport drop-off.
